May 11, 2008We welcome all members and visitors to our services today. Today is Mother’s Day. Let us use this day to give God thanks for the Christian mothers He has given to each one of us. Today: Our service this morning will focus on Mothers Day. However since it is also Pentecost today, our service next Sunday morning will focus on Pentecost. We invite each one to join us after the morning service today for fellowship and coffee. Our morning services in May will be at 10:30 a.m. with Church School at 9:30 a.m. Our evening services will be at 7:00 p.m. in the North Church.

IT’S A GIRL! Victor and Lori Selemani are rejoicing in their good news that Clara Elizabeth arrived safely on Thursday, May 8, at 7:07 a.m. Dad and Mother are tired, but grateful for all your prayers. Victoria met her sister later in the day. Praise God with us for His care and for Melissa, Lori's midwife, who did a wonderful job! (from Carla, Lori’s Mother) DC SCRIP PROGRAM ORDERS are due Tuesday, May 13 at 8:30. Late orders cannot be accepted. Order forms can be found at the back of the church, and at the DCS website. Orders can be given to Donna Veurink or Joan Niewenhuis, delivered to DCS, or brought in with a student. Plan ahead for summer scrip dates: June 17, July 22, and August 19. Thank you for supporting Christian education. GRADUATION POTLUCK: Next Sunday, May 18, we will hold our graduation potluck honoring the following graduates: Josh Lefers, Teresa Maas, Tracy Maas, Amy Baan Hofman, Danny Baas, Rachel De Waard, Mitch De Lange, Tonya De Lange and Sara De Waard. Singles are asked to bring a bag of chips. Sandwiches and salads have already been assigned. Cake and ice cream will also be served. Table service and drinks will be provided. We hope you can come and honor our graduates. The potluck will be held after the morning service. EXPLORE THE FUTURE OF OUR CHURCH: Following the graduation potluck potluck next Sunday, everyone is invited to stay for a meeting in which we want to talk about and explore possible options relating to the future of our church here in Harrison. This is a follow up from the Rural Church Conference a number of us attended in Corsica. Your ideas and input are important and needed. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held Wednesday, May 28 through Friday, May 30 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. with POWER LAB each evening at the Aurora Reformed Church. All children ages 4 through 14 or 15 will enjoy learning about the POWER of Christ. More information and registration forms are at the back of church. THE CADET ROCKET LAUNCH has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2 p.m. at the VanderPol airport. Concessions will be available to support Cadet Camporee expenses. GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) will begin on Tuesday, June 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the New Holland CRC. We will meet every Tuesday during June and July. Camp will be June 17 & 18, ending with Father - Daughter Night on Wednesday evening. Please keep the GEMS and their counselors in your prayers as we meet this summer. (NOTE THE CHANGE OF TIME.) CRWRC is assisting Cyclone Nargis survivors in Burma/Myanmar with life-sustaining emergency items such as shelter, water, kitchen kits, medical, and food supplies. Skyrocketing grain prices combined with the cyclone’s devastation have also thrust millions of Burmese people into hunger. CRWRC will respond with emergency food distribution. Sign up now for Dordt Discovery Days, June 23-27 on the campus of Dordt College. This is a five-day hands-on learning camp for 6th-8th graders which provides middle school students an opportunity to explore new interests; dive deeper into familiar ones; meet new friends from a variety of places and backgrounds; and learn together for 5 days on a college campus in Christian community.
