Ellen Mae was born on July 29, 1917 in Brule County, SD to Emmett and Anna Beck. She graduated from Platte High School in 1936 and was united in marriage to Sam J. Schryvers. Ellen and Sam spent all of their lives in the Corsica area. To this union 10 children were born. She was a faithful member of the Grace Reformed Church in Corsica. Ellen's love for children was shown during her many years of dedicated service in the Corsica school. She also worked at the local nursing home where she loved the many residents. Later in life, Ellen enjoyed the senior citizen group and the Legion Auxillary, assisting in the many projects to help her community. After years of working, Ellen retired so she could enjoy sewing and baking for her beloved grandchildren and caring for her amazing flowers. Ellen's passions in life were her family and grandkids. Her devout love of sports and watching her grandchildren participate in all activities made her very happy. On any given day Ellen could be found watching her favorite sporting event, especially the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago Cubs. She had a special spirit for her hometown team, the "Corsica Comets". Grateful for having shared Ellen's life are her ten children, Marvin Dean (Sharon) Schryvers, of Mitchell, Marlyn (Judy) Schryvers, of Sioux Falls, Gerald (Susan) Schryvers, of Chamberlain, Darlene (Joseph) Denevan, of Sioux Falls, Karel Sejnoha, of Sioux Falls, Anna (Steven) Horst, of Dell Rapids, Linda Geiken (Mike), Sharon (Kenneth) Teunissen, Laura (Steven) Baete, all of Sioux Falls, Randall (Cheryl) Schryvers, of Corsica; her 45 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren; her sister in laws, Lorraine Schryvers, of Corsica, Ilene Beck, Joan Beck, both of Platte; and many other relatives and friends.
