Joseph Adrian Hansum was born May 26, 1922 in Douglas Co. to Cornelius & Sophie (Tegethoff) Hansum. At the age of 7 he moved with his parents to Aurora Center when they purchased Hansum Store. Growing up, he attended Fairview Country School. He helped work at his parent's store but farming was his interest. He gained knowledge from working for many farmers, both locally & in neighboring states and in 1950 went on to purchase his own farm north of Aurora Center. He was united in marriage to Tillie Munneke, at the bride's home north of Joubert SD, on February 17, 1949 and to this union three daughters were born. He was baptized, made profession of faith & served on the consistory at the Aurora Reformed Church. He also taught Sunday School for many years. In 1998 they moved to Corsica & became members of the Grace Reformed Church. He was musically talented with the ability to play six different instruments, with the saw being the most unique. He used this talent with the group, Music Mixers, and later years as a couple provided entertainment at many retirement homes and churches. He crafted and entertained many with his whimsical & whitty creations. He enjoyed attending sporting events, hunting, and especially fishing. He was happiest with a hook & line heading to the Missouri River or Corsica Lake. In 2013 Joe & Tillie moved to Leisure Living and in 2016 went to the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica.
