Juna Mae Van Zee, 78, New Holland, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society, Corsica. She was born on June 14, 1933. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Holland Christian Reformed Church. Burial will be in New Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mount Funeral Home, Platte, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Dakota Christian School, 37614 S.D. Hwy. 44, Corsica, S.D. 57328; Good Samaritan Society, 455 Dakota Ave., Corsica, S.D. 57328; or New Holland Christian Reformed Church, New Holland, S.D. 57364.

Juna Mae Van Zee was born on June 14, 1933 to Fred H. and Wyna (Keuning) Van Zee in Harrison, SD. She attended New Holland Christian School and was united in marriage to John G. Van Zee on June 18, 1952 in Joubert, SD. To this union three children were born: Wyona, Marlys and Gary. Juna Mae was a career homemaker, who was extremely dedicated to her husband, children and grandchildren. In later years, she was privileged to have been able to care for her mother, Wyna.

She loved working on the farm and helping John with the chores. Juna Mae was a lifelong member of the New Holland Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed spending her time embroidering, canning and tending to her flowers. She loved time spent with her grandchildren - making pancakes for them and Grandpa, having tea parties and joining in family fun at Green Lake.

Grateful for having shared in Juna Mae's life: her 3 children: Wyona (Gordon) Lefers of Corsica, SD, Marlys (Galen) Vonk of Sioux Falls, SD and Gary (Denise) Van Zee of New Holland, SD; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Jeanette) Van Zee; a sister-in-law, Darlene Van Zee; a step-sister, Gertrude Timmer; a step brother-in-law, Adrian Hansum; as well as several nieces, nephews and loving members of John's family.

Juna Mae was preceded in death by: her husband, John G. Van Zee (Nov. 18, 1998), her parents, Fred H. and Wyna Van Zee; her step-father, Herman Hansum; a brother, Marvin Van Zee; a brother-in-law, Clarence Timmer and a sister-in-law, Genevieve Hansum.
