Lester Plooster, 95, died at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica on Monday, January 24, 2011. Funeral service will be at Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Harrison First Reformed Church with burial following in Harrison City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 5 - 8 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Chapel in Corsica with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be donated to Harrison City Cemetery Association.

Lester Plooster was born on July 21, 1915 to Simon and Edith (Wolbrink) Plooster. He married Margaret DeVries on July 30, 1937. They enjoyed 73 years of married life together. Lester was a life long active member of Harrison Reformed Church. In his late teens he worked as a farm laborer in Minnesota. He farmed most of his adult life in Douglas County with the exception of a few years working in California on a dairy farm and a short time picking corn in Iowa. In 1980 he retired from farming which he loved and moved to Harrison where he found enjoyment in golfing, fishing, gardening and playing pool. In 2005, he and Margaret moved to Leisure Living in Corsica. He lived at The Good Samaritan Society for the past two years where he died on January 24, 2011 at the age of 95.

Survivors include wife, Margaret; children, Robert (Gloria) Plooster of Harrison, Dorothy (Roger) Mahler of Belvidere, Illinois, Merlin (Mary) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Dennis (Elaine) of Corsica; sisters, Evelyn Meeter, of Corsica, Mildred Joffer, of Brooten Minnesota, and Everine Plooster of Azusa, California; brother-in-law, Fred De Boer; sisters-in-law; Esther Nixon, Ruby DeVries, and Clara Kiel; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elrod (at age 7), Lawrence, Roy and Gilbert; and one sister, Esther Niewenhuis.
