Menna Starkenburg, 98, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Avera St. Benedict Hospital, Parkston.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Christian Reformed Church, Corsica. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Corsica. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Koehn Brothers Funeral Chapel, Corsica.

Menna (Dykstra) Starkenburg was born on June 18, 1912 in Corsica, SD to Eltje and Mintje (Kuening) Dykstra. She lived near Corsica as a teenager then moved to Harrison, SD. She married John Starkenburg on September 19, 1944 in Harrison, SD. They moved to Fulton, Illinois for a year, then moved back to Harrison until 1978 when they moved to Corsica. She worked at the Corsica Nursing Home and the Armour hospital as a nurses aide and retired in 1977. Menna was a member of Christian Reformed Church in Corsica, Altar Society, Chapel Club, Priscilla Club, Dorcas Society, Historical Society Museum, and the Legion Auxiliary. She died on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston at the age of 98.

She is survived by 4 children: Myra Starkenburg of Edina, Minn.; Evelyn (Richard) Lane of Bellingham, Wash.; Wesley Starkenburg of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Ralph Starkenburg of Golden Valley, Minn.; five grandchildren and eight great-grand children and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers: Simon, Martin, Mike, Charlie and Ed; two sisters: Grace and Minnie.
