Ruth Vander Pol. 95, Corsica, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Osceola Health Care Center, St. Cloud, Fla.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christian Reformed Church, Corsica. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Corsica. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Mount Funeral Home, Platte, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

She was born on March 12, 1915, on the border of an Indian reservation in Mellette County to John and Nellie (Kooiman) Buckles.

She attended country schools.

On June 1, 1933, she married Henry "Doc" Vander Pol in Harrison.

They moved to California.

They later moved back to South Dakota.

She was a member of Christian Reformed Church, where she was librarian for many years.

She served as president of the Cemetery Association and was a member of Dorcas Society.

Her husband died in 1997 and she moved to St. Cloud, Fla.

She is survived by four children: Delores Vander Pol; Douglas and wife Marlene; Mark and wife Darlene, all of St. Cloud; and Dwight and wife Bonnie, Black Hawk; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, two sisters: Lillian Van Genderen, Corsica; and Ione Druyvestein, Custer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers: Allen Buckles and John Warren Buckles; and two sisters: Mary Swanson and Wilma Van Vuren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
