Willamena Hoekstra, 90, of New Holland, SD passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society, Corsica, SD. Funeral Services are 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2012 at the New Holland Christian Reformed Church. A Committal Service will follow at the New Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Mount Funeral Home in Platte with a 6:00 P.M. Prayer Service. Willamena (Mulder) Hoekstra was born on May 16, 1921 in Douglas County, SD to William and Katie (Rus) Mulder. She was united in marriage to Alfred Hoekstra on March 15, 1939 in Corsica, SD. They farmed in the Corsica and New Holland, SD areas until moving into New Holland in 1974. They were together until Alfred's passing in May of 1976.

Willamena joined the Corsica Christian Reformed Church as a young adult and had been a member of the New Holland Christian Reformed Church since 1956. She was active in church and school auxiliary organizations and Bible study groups, as well as being a Charter Member of the Douglas County Home Extension Club. Willamena enjoyed travel tours to many of the 50 states, loved joining friends for coffee and games and was an avid crocheter.

Grateful for sharing in Willamena's life: her 5 children: Merle (Karen) Hoekstra of Grand Rapids, MI, Kathy (Bonn, Jr.) VanderTuin of Alexandria, MN, Ken Hoekstra of Napa, CA, Sharon (Wayne) Bok of Ripon, CA and Alan (Cheryl) Hoekstra of Visalia, CA; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Ben Mulder of Armour, SD and Pete Mulder of Yankton, SD; along with many nieces and nephews.

Willamena was preceded in death by: her husband, Alfred; a son, Michael (Aug. 2011); an infant granddaughter, Carla Bok; her parents, William and Katie and 2 sisters: Irene and Katie.
