Robert Eggers

Robert "Bob" William Eggers, 81, died at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour on Saturday, September 3, 2022. Funeral service will be Friday, September 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Corsica with burial following in Blooming Valley Cemetery in near Corsica. Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 5 - 7 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Chapel in Corsica.

Robert "Bob" William Eggers was born on November 30, 1940 to Bill and Freda (Metzger) Eggers in Glenwood, MN. When he was a young child, his family moved to the homestead southeast of Corsica, SD. Bob attended school in Corsica and graduated in 1958. He farmed with his dad, Bill and also served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1965. On October 14, 1972, Bob married Norene (Toft) Strehlow at Blooming Valley Church. They enjoyed farming together near Stickney and Corsica until 2006 when they retired and moved to Corsica. Norene passed away on December 21, 2007. Bob enjoyed spending time with his kids and especially his grandkids. Bob also enjoyed fishing (especially with Louie), watching the Twins baseball games, driving around checking the crops, and visiting with his coffee buddies. Bob was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Corsica and served as the treasurer of Blooming Valley Cemetery Association. He was also a member of the Corsica American Legion. Bob passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour at the age of 81 after a 2 year battle with cancer.

Bob is survived by his 4 children: Pam Lauritsen and husband, Ron of Custer, SD; Cindy Whitaker and husband, Dave of Custer, SD, Kim Eggers of Clear Lake, SD; and Brad Eggers and wife, Jessica of Rapid City, SD; 5 grandchildren: Goldie and Sam Whitaker, Katelyn Lauritsen, and Avery and Victoria Eggers, sister, Esther Henry and husband, Bob of Newcastle, WY; and numerous relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norene, parents, parents-in-law, siblings: Roland, Marge, Myron, Kay Parker and Carol Rysavy, brothers-in-law: Joe Rysavy and Chuck Strehlow.
