Peter Junior Noteboom was born on October 21, 1924 to Marion and Pearl (Rus) Noteboom on a farm in Aurora County. Peter was the second of three children: Marvin, Peter Junior, and Joyce. Peter went to school in Aurora County through fifth grade. His family moved to Douglas County where Peter then went to Corsica school from the sixth grade through his senior year. Peter also attended Springfield College. Because he lost his left eye as a child, he wasn't drafted. Instead he was inducted into the army in 1945 at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After attending basic training in Virginia, he went overseas to Toyko, Japan. He worked at General McArthur's office typing messages until 1947. When he first came home he hauled gravel with a truck his father gave him. Peter married his high school sweetheart, Lucille Menning, on August 8, 1947.

Peter was manager at the Corsica Co-op and enjoyed that job for 31 years. He purchased the John Deere dealership with Pete Mulder and they operated it together for 10 years. His sons Daniel and Michael then became partners with him in Corsica Implement. Peter devoted a lot of time and energy in the development of Corsica. Peter volunteered many hours to community projects. He was an active member of the Corsica Legion, Volunteer Fire Department, Historical Society, Lions Club, Veterans Memorial, Commercial Club, founding Pleasant View Home board member, Gideons, and many other organizations. He enjoyed traveling, going South for the winter, gardening, mowing, watching grandchildren's activities and playing games. He was a faithful member of the Corsica Christian Reformed Church and loved singing when Lucille would play the organ or piano. And most of all, He loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know Him as their personal Savior.

Grateful for sharing his life is his wife of 72 years, Lucille, of Corsica, Gwendolyn Meeter, Sioux Falls, Sharon (Ivan) Van Marel, Daniel (Jeanne) Noteboom, Michael (Donna) Noteboom, Laura (Troy) Noteboom of Corsica. Peter was the loving grandfather of 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Peter was a resident at the Corsica Good Samaritan Center and died at the Parkston Avera St. Benedict Hospital on Nov. 20, 2019. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, baby sister Joyce, brother Marvin, and son-in-law Dean Meeter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christian Reformed Church in Corsica or the Gideons.
