Roger Muilenburg

Roger Muilenburg, 80, of Mitchell, formerly of North Sioux City, SD, died Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the SD Human Services Center in Yankton. Services will be Thursday, February 22, at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, with a visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 am and a prayer service at 11:30. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Corsica.

Roger Lee Muilenburg was born June 9, 1943 at rural Corsica, SD to Peter J. and Gertrude M. (Bultje) Muilenburg. He grew up on the family farm and attended Garfield country grade school.  Roger worked for various farmers before moving to Denver where he worked for Samsonite Luggage Company for several years.  He moved to Sioux City where he was employed by Prince Manufacturing for many years. He resided in North Sioux City, SD until moving to Mitchell to be near family in February 2023. Roger was an avid fisherman. 

Roger is survived by six children: Ruby, Sherri, Penny, Roger Jr, Bernadette and Bridgadette, four sisters: Betty Spaans, Marlene (Mike) Hettinger, Sharon (Jim) Titus, Doris Royston and four brothers: Norman (Dorthey), Donnie (Phyllis), Dewayne and Darwin, several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; Kenneth, Robert, John and wife Rosie and brothers-in-law, Ben Spaans, Richard Hoffman, and Conrad Dean.
