Elaine Johnson

Elaine Maybelle Murray Johnson, 76, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, February 28 at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour.  Memorial service will be Saturday, March 2 at 12:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am, at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.  Burial will follow the service in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour.

Elaine was born March 11, 1947 to Sigward and Margaret (Newberg) Lee in Valley City, ND.  She attended and graduated from high school in Luverne, ND.  She was united in marriage to Russell Gene Johnson on May 15, 1971 in Huron, SD.  Elaine lived in Aberdeen, Huron, Armour and Corsica.  She worked at several daycares and eventually had her own daycare in their home where she cared for and loved many children.  She also worked at Krull’s Market in Armour in the produce department.  She loved watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Timberwolves and Vikings on TV and word find books.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Russell of Corsica; 2 sons:  Terry (Tracy) Plecity of Colman, SD and Matthew (Jennifer) Johnson of Corsica; 8 grandchildren:  Tyler Plecity, Mariah Plecity, Nolan Mingledorff, Jessica McDermott, Hunter Johnson, Haley Johnson, Heather Johnson and Hadynn Johnson; a sister, Jeanette “Dolly” (Alan) Erickson of Bismark, ND; and in-laws:  Bonnie Munger of DeSmet, SD; Cathie Johnson of Lubbock, TX; Jeanette Johnson of Huron, SD; and Roger (Kathy) Johnson of Sturgis, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Richard Lee and Gene (Margaret) Lee; and in-laws:  Gene (Shirley) Schaffer; Bob (Lorna) Johnson; Owen Johnson; Don Johnson; and Craig Munger.
