Arlene Plooster

Arlene Lavonne Plooster, 95, went to her heavenly home Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston.  Funeral service will be Monday, October 28 at 10:30 am, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am, at Harrison Community Church in Harrison.

Arlene, the youngest of seven children, was born November 7, 1928 to Marinus and Rolena (Stadt) Bordewyk in Corsica, SD. She attended Corsica Christian School and graduated from Corsica High School in 1946.  She worked for the Corsica Globe during her high school years and continued as the linotype operator there for years after graduation.  She was united in marriage to Arlo Plooster on February 11, 1949 at the Christian Reformed Church in Corsica.  To this union, four children were born.  Together, they farmed on several different farms before moving to the Plooster family farm south of Harrison in 1963.  They farmed there until 1993 when they retired and moved into Corsica.  She was a member of First Reformed Church in Harrison and later Harrison Community Church.  

Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 daughters: Judith Vanden Berge of Corsica and Jolene (Dan) Brosz of Bowman, ND; a son, Todd (Brenda) Plooster of Corsica; a daughter-in-law, Barb Plooster of Hot Springs, SD; 10 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlo on September 3, 2011; a son, Thomas; a son-in-law, Ron Vanden Berge; a grandson, Jon Brosz; a brother, Arthur (Eunice) Bordewyk; 5 sisters, Geneva (James) Walker, Hermina (Julius) Hoekman, Lucille (Gerrit) DeBoer, Kathryn (Robert) Stedronsky. and Joyce (Ben) Hasseler; and in-laws, Adrianne and Heyme DeLange, Antionette and Ernest Everson, Willard Plooster, Elsie and William Jongsma, and Dean and Marlene Plooster.
