Edna was born September 7, 1922 to Louie and Martha (Olawsky) Goldammer in Douglas County, SD. She attended country school in Douglas County through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Ewald Sprecher on February 12, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Hillside. They farmed near Corsica until 1968 when they moved into town and purchased the local café. They owned and operated Ewald’s Café in Corsica, SD for the next 10 years. Later, they purchased the Fabric Inn in Armour. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, WELCA, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Priscilla Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, cooking, baking, and quilting with women from church.
Grateful for having shared her life are her 4 children: Steven (Doris) Sprecher of Yankton, SD; Keith (Joyce) Sprecher of Corsica; Donna Sprecher of Mitchell, SD; and Cheryl (Randy) Schryvers of Corsica; 8 grandchildren: Luke (Megan) Schryvers of Slayton, MN; Mandy (Aaron) Gerlach of Ethan, SD; Stephanie (Jerrod) Deneke of Pella, IA; Jon (Abby) Sprecher of Yankton, SD; Stacey (Eric) Briscoe of Redmond, Oregon; Adam (Shaundra) Sprecher of Savage, MN; Andy (Christine) Sprecher of Rockingham, VA; and Amber (Chris) Gumti of Highland Falls, NY ; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Wilbert Goldammer of Bakersfield, CA; Darrel (Joyce) Goldammer of Sioux Falls, SD; and Richard Goldammer of Mitchell; and 2 sisters-in-law, Wilma Goldammerof Rapid City, SD and Ella Goldammer of Custer, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ewald; grandson, Paul Sprecher; great-granddaughter, Chantel Gerlach; 3 sisters: Gladys Siebenahler, Marlene Gerlach, and Ann Wilson; 4 brothers, Arnold Goldammer, Ervin Goldammer, Wayne Goldammer, and Arthur Goldammer; 2 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
