Dennis was born August 4, 1934 on the family farm at Aurora Center, SD to John and Clara (Starr) Bordewyk. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Corsica High School. He entered the United States Army on March 8, 1957 and served his country until being honorably discharged on March 7, 1963. While in the service, he was part of Operation Blue Bat during the Lebanese Civil War and received the Good Conduct Medal and Sharp Shooter Badge. He was united in marriage to Carol Jongejeuged on May 20, 1959 at New Holland Christian Reformed Church. The couple made their home on the farm in Douglas County where Dennis was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Grandview Reformed Church in Armour, was an avid woodworker and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins.
Grateful for having shared his life are his 2 sons: Barry (Karen) Bordewyk of Sioux Falls, SD and Troy (Cheryl) Bordewyk of Corsica, SD; 5 grandchildren: Lindsey, Wyatt (Ruth) and Logan (Andrea) Bordewyk and Chalee (Reno), McKinney and Dayson Bordewyk; 8 great-grandchildren: Riley and Lincoln Drangstveit; Charlotte, Leo, and Quintin Bordewyk; Reid and Ava Bordewyk and Raylee McKinney; his very close friends, Fran Harrington' and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; and a sister, Donna (Dennis) DenBesten.
