LeRoy Veurink

LeRoy Veurink, 88, passed into the arms of Jesus at Platte Health Center on November 17, 2025 with his wife of 66 years by his side. 

LeRoy was born to Gerrit H and Elizabeth (Vander Tuin) on the family farm. He attended New Holland Christian Grade School. He then began farming and never looked back. LeRoy met Elaine Noteboom and it was love at first sight. They married June 3, 1959 shortly after Elaine graduated from Dakota Christian. They welcomed five children to the family farm: LeeAnn, Dan, Brad, Gailen, and Craig. 

Leroy served the Lord with all his heart. He loved to quote scripture and sing hymns. He loved his family and his church, the New Holland Christian Reformed Church of which he was a member all his life. He was a strong man of faith and lived by example. Always sharing the message of grace and encouragement to accept the cup of Salvation.  LeRoy lived a life preparing for eternity. He modeled Jesus love for the church with his love and dedication for his wife, Elaine. 

LeRoy brought joy to all around him with his jokes and contagious laugh. LeRoy loved fellowship, playing Dutch bingo, Coca-Cola, Wilhelmina peppermints, Elaine’s cooking, coffee at the sale barn, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. 

“My flesh and heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and portion forever.” Psalms 73:23 

Thankful for sharing his life: his loving wife Elaine; children: LeeAnn, Dan (Dawn), Brad, Gailen (Stephanie), and Craig (Christine); fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren: Derrick Veurink, Devin & Bridget Veurink (Emersyn, Lauryn, & Kypton), Dustin Veurink, Dominic & Shelby Veurink (Chase), Ashley Veurink, Brooke & Brandon Wegehaupt (Violet), Kimberly & Christian Thompson (Hayes & Stevie), Drew Veurink & Moriah Plastow, Erika Veurink & Christian Raho (Beatrice), Grant Veurink, Sarah Veurink, Hayden Veurink, Joseph Veurink, and Annika Veurink. 

LeRoy is preceded in death by son Gailen Veurink, his parents, nine siblings, father and mother-in-law Gerrit & Jennie Noteboom, and brother-in-law Bud.

Funeral services for LeRoy Veurink, age 88, of Platte, SD, will be held at the New Holland Christian Reformed Church, New Holland, South Dakota at 10:30 A.M on Friday, November 21, 2025. Burial will follow at the New Holland Cemetery, New Holland, SD. Visitation will begin at 9 AM.
