Janice Eggers

Janice Eggers, 77, went to her heavenly home Friday, September 11, 2026 at her home near Corsica under hospice care and surrounded by her family.  Funeral mass will be Thursday, September 17 at 10:30 am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour.  Visitation will be Wednesday, September 16 from 5 to 7 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

Janice Eggers, a beacon of strength and devotion, passed away peacefully at her home in the loving embrace of her family on September 11, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on October 17, 1948, in Parkston, SD, Janice was a cherished daughter to Everett and Alice (VandenHoek) DeBoer.

A proud graduate of Corsica High School, Class of 1966, Janice embarked on a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others. On December 12, 1969, she married her beloved James "Jim" Eggers at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour, SD. Together, they nurtured a family that became her greatest joy and legacy.

Janice's career was a testament to her unwavering work ethic and commitment. She balanced her roles as a devoted mother and professional with grace, contributing her skills to Beukelman Insurance Agency, Corsica Co-op (Cenex), and as a bookkeeper for Eggers Trucking. Her organizational talents and meticulous nature were evident in every task she undertook.

Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she was an active member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was a lector, Church secretary, and participated in the Altar Society. Janice's dedication extended to her community involvement with the Douglas County Farmers Union and her monthly gatherings with the Birthday Babes group.

Janice had a beautiful way of connecting with others, whether it was through her beautiful quilts, intricately decorated cakes, or enjoying the friendships she shared with the women in her bowling league. Some of her most cherished moments were spent in the kitchen with family baking apple pies, donuts, and Christmas cookies. Janice always looked forward to family reunions where she loved catching up with loved ones, sharing stories, and laughter, and simply enjoying time together. Her presence was a staple at her children's and grandchildren's events—she was their biggest fan, attending countless concerts, games, church programs, and sporting events with enthusiasm and pride.

Those who knew Janice will remember her for her courageous spirit and unwavering faith in God. Her familiar response of being "oh, pretty good" when asked about her well-being reflected her resilient nature and optimistic outlook, even during challenging times.

Janice is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Juli (Glen) Moke of Corsica, SD, Jolyn (Jason) VanRoekel of Ethan, SD, Jamie (Larry) Fenicle of Pipestone, MN, Jill (Dan) Bannwarth of Mitchell, SD, and Jared (Bethany) Eggers of Corsica, SD. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Brady (Laura) Moke, Brittni Moke, Blake Moke, Tyler (Sara) VanRoekel, Carly VanRoekel, Steadman Fenicle, Broeden Fenicle, Hannah Bannwarth, Hadley Bannwarth, Harper Bannwarth, Everett Eggers, Clayton Eggers, and her great-grandson, Sylvester Moke.

Janice is also survived by her 2 siblings: Delores (Lloyd) Markus, Brent (Jenny) DeBoer; brothers and sisters-in-law: Rod (Lynda) Eggers, Kathy Eggers, Tom (Lori) Eggers, and Deb (Greg) Baete. She joins in eternal rest her parents, Everett and Alice DeBoer; her brother, Harlan; sister, Karen; her in-laws, Harry and Eileen Eggers; granddaughter, Haley Bannwarth; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Valores) Eggers, Bernie Eggers, and Jan Eggers.
