Eltha Wolbrink

Eltha Jane Wolbrink, 92, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. She was always grateful for the care she received in the assisted living and nursing homes the last 10 years of her life. Funeral service will be Friday, November 6 at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 9:00 am, at Harrison Community Church in Harrison.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Stickney.

Eltha was born December 19 1933 to Wynand and Minnie (Dykstra) Plooster on the family farm in Douglas County, SD.  After attending country school near the farm through the 8th grade, she began working for the local grocery store.  She was united in marriage to Jacob Jr. Wolbrink on November 17, 1959 in Corsica, SD.  The couple made their home on the farm near Aurora Center where they raised their 3 children and worked side by side on the farm.  Eltha's faith was a huge part of her life. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Harrison, which later became the Harrison Community Church. She taught Sunday school, and was instrumental in organizing Vacation Bible School for many years. She was active in the ladies societies and bible study.  She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed embroidery and taking rides around the countryside with Jr.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 children:  Duane (Ruth) Wolbrink of Stickney, SD; Phyllis (Steve) Pennings of Stickney and Karen (Marlin) Maas of Corsica; 10 grandchildren, Angela Feenstra, Jason Wolbrink, Jeremy (Laura) Wolbrink, Connor (Jenna) Pennings, Aften (Gage) Weller, Colin Pennings, Maria (Rus) Pettit, Lyndon (Sheena) Maas, Michael (Cassity) Maas and Kristen Maas; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gerry Plooster of Mead, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob; a grandson, Christopher Wolbrink; a brother, Leonard Plooster; and 2 sisters, Mary Ann Plooster and Rosa Mae Plooster.
